The North East Development Forum (NEDF) with its registered office at NH37,Zoon Nagar, Bhatiapar, Sivasagar, Assam is one of the Non-profit Organisation, which was established in September, 2004, dedicated to social cause furthering sustainable livelihood among the men and women of rural areas of Assam, more particularly of the Sivasagar District.
NEDF does this by creating market linkage by the MSME named Nature Trade registered with DICC, Sivasagar, Assam in 2007 with its registered office Zoon Nagar, Bhatiapar, Sivasagar, Assam and registered with Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts under Registration no. EPCH/ REGN/41535/2018-2019 under the Textile Ministry.
NEDF effectively utilised the Natural fibre craft (Water hyacinth) and successfully created sustainable livelihood by promoting eco-friendly products, empowering women and youth in rural areas and rejuvenating the environment by removal of a menace of Hyacinth which is considered to be a major nuisance in Assam and neighbouring states.
NEDF has trained about thousand Artisans and trained, motivated and assisted them on the entire process of the design and production. Apart from these NEDF organised and followed up Skill Graduation Programme for continual guidance and motivation of the rural artisans. NEDF trained and gave them “Artisan Identity Cards” under the Ministry of Textiles.

HANDICRAFT
The people of Assam have a rich tradition of craftsmanship that dates back to ancient times. NEDF, have identified villagers with traditional skills and trained to master the craft of working with water hyacinth. These artisans, under the guidance of NEDF, now produce a wide array of high-quality and fashionable eco-friendly products, cach item reflects a unique fusion of contemporary fashion and the cultural heritage of North East India.
HANDLOOM
Assam’s silk have earned immense recognition from all over the world. Our artisans weaves several types of silks, the most prominent and prestigious being Muga, the golden silk exclusive to this state. Apart from Muga there are Pure Mulberry, Raw Mulberry, Nooni silk and Endi silk also. Of a naturally rich golden colour, muga is the finest of India’s silks. It is produced only in Assam
